Delhi’s New CM Announcement LIVE: BJP Set to Reveal Chief Minister Pick Today

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to announce its new Chief Minister for Delhi after the legislature party meeting scheduled for today. Following the decision, an oath-taking ceremony is planned at the historic Ramlila Maidan on February 20, with top party leaders in attendance.

BJP Leadership to Oversee Transition

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda are actively involved in the process, ensuring a smooth transition of power. The newly elected BJP MLAs in Delhi will convene today to elect the legislative party leader, who will be sworn in as the next chief minister.

Reports suggest that the party is considering a fresh face from the newly elected MLAs, with the possibility of selecting a woman MLA for the role. The event is expected to be grand, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and other senior BJP leaders present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Opposition Criticism

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticized the BJP for the delay in announcing a CM candidate. Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai remarked that Delhi might see multiple CMs over the next five years, similar to the previous BJP-led government.

BJP Legislature Meeting at 7 PM

The crucial BJP legislature party meeting is scheduled for 7 PM today. The 48 newly elected MLAs will gather at the Delhi BJP office on Pandit Pant Marg by 6 PM for discussions. Senior BJP leaders will seek feedback from MLAs before finalizing the CM candidate.

A senior BJP leader stated, “The meeting is expected to begin between 6:30 PM and 7 PM, and shortly after, the new CM’s name will be announced.”

Mustafabad BJP MLA on Delhi’s Next CM

BJP MLA from Mustafabad, Mohan Singh Bisht, expressed confidence in the party’s decision, stating, “An ordinary worker will be chosen as the next Delhi chief minister. If I am selected, I will focus on addressing key issues in the city.”

If appointed as the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, he added, “My priority will be the smooth conduct of the House and raising crucial issues concerning Delhi.”

With anticipation building, all eyes are on the BJP’s final announcement as Delhi prepares to welcome its new Chief Minister.
